Here I am…

What a busy time it has been…so busy I haven’t been online much…hard to believe I know ;) I have been seeing my new niece quite a bit (I’m soooooo clucky!), she is so adorable. She is so alert for a baby that isn’t even 2 weeks old. I know you might think I’m biased but when she is awake her eyes are open and she is watching everything, also her head moves to sound. And believe it or not, when there is music on she stops crying, I would never have believed it if I hadn’t seen it myself.

Yesterday I felt so old. I almost cried thinking where the hell had all the years gone. Here I am, just turned 37 and walking into my old high school to enrol my oldest baby :( for next year. I walk through the gate and feel like I am 16 again. Cue… ‘misty watered coloured memoriesssssssssssssss…of the way … we were…’. I’m such a sucker for nostalgia. This was the time of my first major crush, wistful sexual longing and where I learnt my subtle sarcastic wit :) I practiced on guys in my year lol

I guess I loved school and had a lot of fun with my friends. What was worse was that I ran into my economics teacher I had in years 11 and 12 (last 2 years of high school for those from the States). He looked at me and I said “Hello Mr Smith (not his real name lol)”, you could could see him recognise me and trying to place me without looking like he didn’t have a clue lol. I said to him you taught me in the final years and when he realised it was 1987-88 I think he felt really old also.

I told him I was there to enrol my oldest son for next year and he asked me who he should look out for, so hopefully he will keep an eye out for him. I know the school will have changed a little and my teacher said it had when I mentioned it but he said it was still a good school for the children that did the right thing. I’m really excited for my son but sad because he is growing up so quickly. It tough remembering they only on loan for a short time.

I’ve been going to the gym…I’ve lost about 4 kilos or around 9lbs this week. I’m so tired but it’s getting better. I have to confess I did cave in and be bad…I had a fun sized freddo chocolate frog or 3 and a chocolate donut during the week :(

Oh and I’m going to brag right now…I have started Christmas shopping! It might be on layby but I’ve started :) Yay!!!

I also go back to school in one week so I’ve been organising my timetable that I hope to get when I register for lectures and tutorials on Monday. I’m doing American Literature, Writing Poetry (I’ll need frangelico for inspiration I think as I’m not creative in the slightest lol), Alternative Histories (volunteer sectors in Australian History etc) and Literature, History and Culture. So there are 3 english units and one history unit. If I pass this semester I will have completed my very first university undergraduate degree :) who would have thought? Definately not me.

My grade point average is good at the moment which means I am eligible to apply for honours, or I could just continue and do a post graduate course for my teaching component which is a Masters of Teaching (Secondary).  I’ve been looking at maybe doing the teaching degree via another university by distance learning and also checking out distance learning options for a Diploma in Modern Languages for both French and Italian.  There is in country learning for both of these with the one in Italy at Macerata and in Saint-Etienne in France…so I’m contemplating that also.  It’s all exciting :) and who knows, I may do both they are both beautiful languages and have a great history and culture.

Well it’s bed time for me so I’ll finish here and will write soon. Stay safe and hugs to all!

Oh the pain…lol

Guess who went back to the gym yesterday? Yes it was me! What was I thinking lol Actually I’m not in pain (maybe that’s happening tomorrow) but I can really feel where I worked out as it has been awhile. I had a new fitness assessment and was given a new tailor made program by new trainer. I have to say I slept really well last night and didn’t make it past 11pm which is unusual for me as I am so used to studying I just can’t sleep before 1am no matter how tired I am.

My niece is so adorable and has an attitude already lol she loves to fight off the baby blanket that they wrap them in like a cocoon. I am absolutely mesmerised by her just as I was with my own children.

Nothing else is really new, I did the lawns yesterday and started cleaning the pool. Yes I know it’s winter but after the winds we’ve had it needs a clean. But halfway through the suction thingy for the floor tool stopped working so I have to wait for someone to look at it. I’m afraid I’m technically challenged in a lot of things.

I’m a little ticked off at the news today going on about the affordability of housing in Sydney. It’s a struggle and cannot happen without both parents working, even then families have to go without due to the high mortgage repayments. I mean 30 year old homes are going for $300,000 an hour from Sydney? it’s incredulous to say the least. If you add on top of that the soaring price of fuel and groceries, many families cannot afford to go on holidays locally because petrol costs too much. I know many people that think twice before taking their family anywhere and that is a very sorry way to live.

The other issue that makes me shake my head in disbelief is where the Treasurer thinks the housing prices are due to lack of land being released for new housing and the Federal government has decided to hold an enquiry into where land could be released but isn’t. This is all fine in theory but have they forgotten that Sydney is running out of water? New homes mean more water usage, surely someone in the government realises that more houses will put a huge drain on the water resources we do have left.

On my last water bill it shows I used more water when I know I used less. This last quarter I did not water my garden, I did not top up the pool yet it said I used more and they also put the $ rate per kilolitre of water used up and do so with every quarterly bill which is also exactly the same with electricity. I know this is similar in other states but I know eventually I will moving away from Sydney, it’s just getting too expensive to live here. Everyone’s income is spent on just the basics and trying to live, there is no money left over for anything else, which may explain why Australian’s aren’t big on savings accounts at the moment, they have nothing to put in them.

Ok that is my rant for today. Will write later on after I go and visit my niece :)

Cheers!

The Precious Bundle Revealed…

Finally, after a seemingly ever long wait…is the precious bundle my family have been waiting for…my brand new niece…Alexis!

She was born at 11:23am Wednesday 11th July 2007 weighing in at a very healthy 9lb 6oz (4.250 kilos) and at a length of 20.28 inches (51.5 cms) by caesarean section.

She is absolutely gorgeous and so cuddly :) she also has a healthy set of lungs! Mother and baby are doing fine.

And without further ado, here is the little princess at 30 minutes old :)

Cheers!

Aunty Savannah :)

Almost here…

My niece or nephew still has failed to arrive but my sister had an ultrasound today and it’s quite a solid baby with an estimated birth weight of 11 lbs 2 oz or just over 5 kilos.  My sister rang me to let me know they are going to try and put her in for a caesarian tomorrow morning provided there is room in the theatre or on Wednesday if not.

I’m so excited but nervous for her.  It’s her first baby and normal childbirth is frightening on it’s own.  However she will be in the best place she can be :) I will keep you posted.

On another note I have been really enjoying not doing all that much on my break and sleeping in.  I’m spending time with my children which is great :)    I finished most of my knitting with one scarf left for anjali…which I will start after the baby comes.

It looks like I’ll be back to the gym next week as I have a fitness assessment and new program waiting for me on Friday.  I’ve missed going but I’m tired just thinking about interval training on the treadmill lol.   I’m also planning my university timetable for next semester so I can fit the gym in this time not like last semester.

I had a lot more to say but I just forgot what it was.  It was a sad day in  Sydney when the USS Kitty Hawk sailed out of the harbour :( lol no I didn’t go down and stalk the sailors regardless of what  my friends might think ;)

Well I better go and get organised for tomorrow.

Regards

P.S.  PD if you are reading this I miss you …

Happy Birthday…

Yes…it’s my birthday! Happy birthday to me…the big 37 lol I’m being dragged kicking and screaming towards 40 :(

I have had a wonderful birthday so far with calls from family and friends and having about 20 people over for dinner this evening.  I’m very disappointed that my future nephew or niece has failed to make it’s first appearance on my birthday.  I even offered to take my sister for a drive to try and induce it lol

I’ll leave it there as it’s a busy day and I don’t feel like writing.

I did do well in one of my essays that I thought I failed by earning a distinction yay to me!  I wrote it in the few days after I had dental surgery so I’m a happy camper.

Will blog soon!

Durex looking for a condom tester

Friday Jul 6 00:04 AEST

An Australian manufacturer has called for applications for what it claims could be the world’s best job – condom tester.

Durex marketing manager Sam White said any Australian over the age of 18 could apply for one of 200 positions as a condom tester.

The position is not paid, but successful applicants will receive a free $60 selection of Durex products and will be required to provide the company with honest feedback about the products’ performance.

One of the lucky 200 testers will win a $1,000 bonus.

Applicants must explain why they would make an expert condom tester, Mr White said.

“With this job on your CV, it really will be a chance to brag to your mates about the special skills you possess, not to mention that your new role will work wonders with the opposite sex,” he said.

“Who wouldn’t want to have a chance with an actual authorised professional?”

One thing’s for sure – it’s a job where employees won’t mind taking their work home and burning the midnight oil.

To apply, visit the company’s website at www.durex.com.au.
